Meet the business - Superdrug
We recently had a chat with Yasmin Knocker, Clinical Nurse Advisor at the Superdrug Nurse Clinic. We wanted to find out more about this useful service for the local community. This is what Yasmin had to tell us:
- What is the story behind opening the health clinic at Superdrug at Elliott’s Field?
- The store manager was keen to have a nurse clinic at Elliott’s Field as there wasn’t much on offer locally for the services that we provide. It’s been open since October 2021.
- Which has been the most popular of your services since you opened and how does this compare to other similar stores?
- For this location, it has definitely been chicken pox vaccinations and, since most of the Covid-19 restrictions were lifted, a return to travel vaccinations. With the first of these, we see a lot of clients from a fair distance away, so it’s obviously a good service to offer.
- Do you have any plans to expand the range of services offered by the clinic?
- Not currently. We have most of the services that Superdrug are offering.
- What does your day-to-day job role involve?
- It will vary. On a busy day, it will be patient appointments back-to-back. If it’s quieter, I can be in the store talking to customers, giving them advice, for example on pain relief, dressings, skincare etc, or handing out leaflets about our services as people enter the shop.
- What is your favourite part of this job?
- It’s hearing everyday stories from customers about their travels. It makes me want to book a holiday!
- What is the most important lesson you have learned in the last year?
- Since Covid-19 hit, it’s been the mantra ‘if you want to do something, don’t wait, just do it!’
- Which social media channel has benefitted your business the most, and why?
- I think it would be Instagram as most people we see seem to be on that channel. The overall company likes TikTok but, for us, it doesn’t have the same number of followers.
- If you had to describe yourself in 3 words, what would they be?
- Organised. Drama Queen. Caring.
- What’s your guilty pleasure?
- There are a few! Watching murder mystery programmes on TV; painting my house at 10pm in the evening; being organised.
- Which superpower would you like to have, and why?
- To be invisible. I’d like to be able to see what is going on in certain places without being seen, like a fly on the wall.
